11.50GMT: It's now warmed up very slightly (ice on car bonnets has now
melted) and the snow is turning sleety. Unless it peps up quite a bit, I
don't think we're going to get any further accumulations, even temporarily.

12.50GMT: It has pepped up! Moderate snow now falling, and though it's not
settling on the already thawed areas, it's probably almost as heavy as at
breakfast time yesterday.

18.55GMT: Still snowing, though the rate is slackening off. We've had about
5cm in total, I think, with the "drifts" in the front garden now getting up

23.45GMT: A disappointing, if not unexpected, end to a very enjoyable day:
light rain, which has been falling for a couple of hours now. There's still
the merest hint of sleetiness in it, and the thaw is slow, but the dampness
is making it very unpleasant and raw outside now.
