Default Weather Warnings - Big Moan!

Whilst accepting that the MetO forecasts for the recent 'snow' event
were pretty good, the way they issues warnings is attrocious.

On 7th February there was a warning under 'Cornwall & the Isles of
Scilly' for disruption due to snow. Exactly the same wording was used
not just for Exmoor, but for the mountains of Wales, and indeed
virtually everywhere in England, it was just endlessly repeated in a
totally meaningless way.

It was NEVER going to snow in Cornwall, except perhaps on the top of
Bodmin Moor. Temperatures he-
7th Max 9.0C, Min 3.9C
8th Max 10.4C Min 5.5C

In contrast the last 2 nights have seen gales, with gusts locally
70mph on both nights. There has also been a consistent huge swell,
still around 24' near Land's End. This morning there are branches &
debris littering the roads, small boats sunk in the harbour. Both
nights have seen winds stronger than at any time during the entire
winter of 2005/2006. Yet No Weather Warning was issued.

It was hardly a surprise to the MetO, it was highlighted on the
shipping forecast - Force 10 for Sole, Lundy, Plymouth etc. (I suppose
if a warning was issued the MetO would have felt obliged to use the
same wording for East Grinstead).

Can we please have meaningful localised warnings not a choice between
generalised garbage or nothing.

Oh, and yet another 22mm of rain last night, must go white water
rafting.
