After the blandest winter* I've experienced since 1989/90 (no snow
here...) maybe it's time to look ahead and the three GFS runs today all seem to suggest more blocked, anticyclonic weather for the 5th of March. Two runs suggest warm S/SE but one suggests perhaps cold easterly. Whatever, it'll be a lot better than what we have at the moment... Nick * maybe this could be quantified? Each day could be rated: snow lying: +3, ground frost: +2, max temps 1 below normal +1, max temps 1 above normal -1, max temps 3 above normal -2, max temps 3 AND overcast/wet -3. |

Nick, yes I'll take *any* dry weather. Mind you I've got used to gardening in
the rain, just don't seem to notice it now, till I come inside - soaked. Got wet again today in the drizzly showers. 273 mm now this month with more to come! Will. -- wrote in message ups.com... I would have thought that in early March (apart from localised foen effects) any widespread springlike weather, say 15C+ would have to come from a straight southerly or with a little westerly component, coming from N Africa via Spain. I would have thought that any easterly component at all would be cold enough that temps here would be average at best. -- Col That's your excuse for everything isn't it, being dead! |

Not necessarily. In fact of my 10 warmest March days, 6 occured on an E or SE wind. I've many examples of 15C on a SE wind (most recent 16.6C on 19/3/05) Recent example on an easterly - 16.7 on 23/3/03 Unusual on a NE, last time was 20/3/98 - 15.8C Graham Penzance |

A SEly coming up from the Med and the south of France can be quite warm, in March I think. -- John Hall Weep not for little Leonie Abducted by a French Marquis!
