================================================== ==============================
=== This forecast represents the *PERSONAL OPINION* of the Chief forecaster at the privately run Haytor meteorological office in Devon on how the weather may unfold in Devon next week. The Chief forecaster will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for meteorology that we personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others. ================================================== ============================== === Summary valid for Saturday 10/03/07 to Saturday 17/03/07 TOI (time of issue) Thursday 08/03/07 1900 UK local time This forecast is for all areas in Devon south of the A30 as far west as the Tamar and as far east as the Exe. Headline summary: Moderate to high confidence for a spell of dry weather around mid-week. Uncertain what happens after that. Synoptic summary: A cold front will move through Devon late on Sunday and then high pressure will build again. Slow moving fronts could re-introduce a wet spell at the end of next week, but confidence is low on this aspect. Detailed forecast: Saturday looks like being mainly dry with sunny spells. Light to moderate west to southwest winds. Temperatures 10-13C at maximum. Sunday morning should be fine with some sunshine. However, cloud will thicken during the afternoon and winds will freshen from the SW. Rain should hold off till dusk and then a spell of quite heavy rain followed overnight by some showers. Temperatures again 10-13C. Monday promises to be colder with sunny intervals and showers. Some showers could well be heavy with hail and a rumble of thunder. Winds moderate and mainly westerly. Showers dying away in the evening and turning cold. Day max. temperature 8-11C. Possibly a ground frost on Tuesday morning but then the rest of day should be fine and mainly dry with sunny spells and lights winds. Temperatures 9-12C. Another fine day on Wednesday likely with light winds and plenty of sunshine. Turning rather warm in the sunshine with some places possibly reaching 15C but generally 10-13C depending on altitude. The rest of the forecast has very low confidence. Most likely outcome is for some rain on Thursday and Friday, possibly heavy, but staying very mild. Winds mainly moderate and south to southwesterly. Turning much colder on Saturday with rain turning to showers as winds swing into the northwest and become fresh to strong. An alternative outcome is for the weather to remain fine and settled. Things should become clearer as time goes by. Will Hand Chief Forecaster Haytor meteorological office " I shall not commit the fashionable stupidity of regarding everything I cannot explain as fraud.
