Default All time Maximum for Iceland & Norway

Hello,
Saw the message that possibly England and the UK could get the same
climate as Iceland, if some very long term models turned up to be
correct, at this ng some days back.
I'm living in Norway and the highest temperature having been recorded
here seems to be: 35.6 C on 20th July 1970 at Nesbyen, Buskerud
(south-eastern Norway).
In the UK you set a new record this summer at 36.7(?) or was it above
38.0??
Still not much difference from Norway, is it!

But then I wonder what is the highest ever on *Iceland*, does anyone
know? Quite another ballpark, I imagine...
But still not 12C I would think...?

Regards,
Bjørn Sørheim,
in Norway

Default All time Maximum for Iceland & Norway

Hi Bjorn,

We are sailing to Stravenger on Sunday from Newcastle- any idea what the
crossing will be like and the weather in Norway??
We are going to Aseral in the southern Norway mountains- any good web sites
telling us what is around there.

Thank-you.

Nigel

Well I don't live close to that area, but look at:
http://129.13.102.67/wz/pics/ngp10.prp.108.europeg.html
Seems like a calm North Sea on Sunday at this point in time.
Slight breeze/calm from the north, not too cold.

I never been to Åseral, but the mountains/hills are quite low,
nice calm valleys, I think.

Regards,
Bjørn Sørheim

Norway-Scotland still 0-0, btw...

I recalled a temperature of over 21C last year at Reykjavik and have just
checked. On the 11th June 2002 it reached 22.4C, the highest since 1995.

The highest temperature recorded in Iceland was 30,5°C at Teigarhorn
in eastern Iceland in june 1939.
