Default February much warmer!

Does anyone have any idea why February as become so warm recently.

If you talk to Tom Presutti, he has a theory that February is actually
colder now.

In fact, since about 1987, all of the best true "wintertime" British
cold events that I can remember have occurred in either DECEMBER or
FEBRUARY. Even NOVEMBER has done BETTER, AMAZINGLY, than January! -
i.e.: 1993, 1995, 1996, etc.. Early January, by the way, has been
identified by Brian Gaze as being, traditionally, the biggest "miss"
time of the winter for proper cold and snow events.:-(:-(

Why does everyone seem to forget January 1997. It was as far as I can
remember the last time we had a serious winter Easterly with heavy SNOW and
day temps below freezing. Since then the winters have generally been milder
with less snow and no real Easterlies. Infact, January 1997 was the coldest
start to January since the massive January 1987 cold event.
