At Heathrow, it turned quite wet for a while with 2mm. Didnt think the forecast today was particularly good - there had been some rain overnight, but not enough to record and I wasnt expecting any more. This reversing front seems to have been more active westwards .. Phil -- www.layton.me.uk/meteo.htm |

I would guess in the region of 2-3mm. -- John Hall "I am not young enough to know everything." Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) |

Guildford 26/04/07 20:43Z snip Rain 1.0mm snip First recordable rain today between 12 & 15z. .... here (Bracknell/Thursday/26th), we had a total of 1.3 mm in the period 1215 to 1515Z, with a couple of 'sharp' downpours, one around 1230Z and another burst ~1430Z. The cloud-scape as the activity edged north was quite threatening, and I said to my wife .. "don't know what Tori was talking about on the radio (five) just now, but we'll be lucky if it remains 'mainly dry'!" Fortunately I had decided to take the washing in before the heavens opened. Hasn't really helped the soil moisture deficit (which must be considerable now), but the blackbirds have welcomed the softening up of the soil - brought a lot of worms to the surface of the lawn and they spent a couple of hours gorging themselves and flying in relays to the various nests. Brought the monthly %age for precipitation up to 4%. We were heading for the driest April in the composite local record which began in 1971, but looking at the latest ensemble output from the GFES, I suspect we're going to miss out on that record (2.9mm in 1984).
