Talk about the media expecting a record breaking CET every month, I've
just been asked how warm it needs to be in May to beat another record back to 1659! The research was interesting; there have been 22 Mays with CET mean higher than 13.0C, with the highest being 13.9C in 1848, or so I thought! I almost missed a random 15.1C mean in 1833, 1.2C higher than the next best - must have been a heck of a month, and no mention of global warming either - wonder what the journos of the day made of it? I notice however, it's already been discussed here! http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...y+1833+weather Fair play to them. The BBC Centre certainly seem to be headed in that direction. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ukweath..._outlook.shtml Barely a drop of rain anywhere and well abouve average temps. FWIW, this forecast seemed pretty accurate during April. -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl |

Col I'm not sure that forecast charts for next week will support the BBC site's optimism - it looks decidedly chilly and unsettled to me mate for the second week of May - woolies back on I think, maybe even some frost later that week too!
