Default Coldest spell for SE since 1991 on the cards??

Certainly looks like it to me,seems the SE will be the place to be next week
as it always was in the big winters of the 80s

Yeah the 80s baby....Sure was the place to be Rupert.
But remember '91 was in a different league to what we're seeing 'fore'cast
for weekend\next week, and a totally different setup, which featured 'deep
cold air'. (think -5 maximums during daytime). So, not even close.
Dec\Jan 97 was good in the SE, and I doubt this forecast cold spell will be
as cold as that... same again different setup.
The UKMO raw output tonight looks quite good for the SE though. Long range
though .
