Brussels on Sunday 13th May
Overcast morning with drizzle around midday. Bright and warm for a time from early afternoon with sunshine through a veil of high cloud. An area of cloud with Cb moved in later in the afternoon with a couple of rumbles of thunder at 17.00 local time and heavy rain and a gusty wind for a few minutes around 17.30. Bright again with sunshine afterwards. Light SSE wind backed ESE in the afternoon but veered SW and increased sharply in the storm. Brussels Uccle 21.1°C - overnight minimum 9.8°C - and 9 mm rain. Brussels Airport 20.3°C - overnight minimum 9.0°C - and 6 mm. So I must guess that the other thunderstorm reports on here are for the east even south east of Britain. (In keeping with yours.) Look out for the time of the lunar declination when it is some 60 degrees from Britain and see which side of the country the thunder takes place in the next spell. OK I know it won't be -6 or so declination until the 26th but that does bring it into quite a nice situation for thunderstorm lovers in the west. If I was that interested in storm chasing and not already here, I'd be looking for cheap hotel accommodation in North East Wales. Somewhere from Colwyn Bay to Prestatyn will be awesome that week. (23rd May to 1st June.) Of course a Med. cruise might be good too. |
