Everybody -
Just back from Canada again. This one's got me stumped. I think this is stratocumulus lenticularlis duplicatus as the cloud deck above it is altocumulus. Opinions please.... The ship is Hapag Lloyd's Paris Express / callsign DIHE and this vessel crops up in sailwx all the time if you like to follow VOS. That picture shows a field of small cumulus developing over land into an essentially stable but moist environment. It as likely that the boundary layer over the water would not support convection. The lowest cloud is Cu hum pil, the next layer is Sc len cugen (some if not all), and Ac str tr above. -- Bernard Burton Wokingham, Berkshire, UK.
