Very short (10 mins max) snow grain shower here around 5.30 GMT. Sky
clearing rapidly now with bright stars. The snow settled almost at once on hard surfaces except right up by houses, and there's now an attractive dusting on the pavements, though presumably that will quickly disappear once the sun comes up. Temperature currently stands at +1°C. Bewdley, Worcs, ~90m asl. -- Please remove ".invalid" to reply by email. Glazed over 'nicely', hopefully gritters will be out. -- Joe Wolverhampton |

Hmmm; I can't say it definitely wasn't soft hail, since I didn't go out in it for more than ten seconds; I should have made that clear. But here at least it looked more snowy than haily in the way it was coming down. -- Please remove ".invalid" to reply by email. Having a shower of something like it here in Shrewsbury, 16.50. I'd
say it's (small) soft hail, looks a bit big for snow grains (and not graupel either), solid but soft ppn, crushable, about 3mm across. Temp a bit high for snow grains too. Looks snowy at first, in that it blows around in the wind, but I'd go for hail. Edmund |
