I'm off to the wolf centre soon, hence this shorter analysis.
Here is a summary of the latest NWP output for noon on Thursday. Issued 0501z, 17th June 2007. By the end of the week all areas will be unsettled with low pressure over the UK. It's unlikely to be cold over southern areas, but in any persistent rain further north temperatures could be on the cool side. Over the weekend the low will slowly move away, allowing NW'lies or northerlies to affect the UK. Due to a combination of strong sunshine and cool air aloft, that's a recipe for some beefy showers, especially in the north and west. ECMWF: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...mwf/ecmwf.html Low pressure is centred over over SW Scotland, leading to SSW'lies for England and Wales with NE'lies over Scotland and northerlies for Northern Ireland. The low moves away to the NE on day 6, allowing NNW'lies to affect much of the UK. On day 7 NW'lies cover the UK as pressure builds to the west. MetO: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da...ukmo/pslv.html MetO shows a low over Ireland and southerlies over much of England and Wales as a result. NE'lies affect Scotland and Northern Ireland, followed by northerlies for most on day 6 as the low moves away easteards. GFS: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/pslv_frame.htm As with the other runs, low pressure dominates the UK - this time, centred over SW Scotland. SW'lies again cover England and Wales, with easterlies for Scotland and northerlies for Northern Ireland. The low fills in situ on day 6, but by day 7 it fills to become a trough over northern England. To the south winds are SW'lies, with northerlies and NNW'lies elsewhere. GEM: http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/da.../gem/pslv.html The Canadian run brings a low over the Western Isles, leading to a mixture of southerlies and SW'lies for most areas. JMA: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rjma1201.gif The Japanese run also shows southerlies for most with low pressure over Eire. NOGAPS: http://85.214.49.20/pics/Rngp1201.gif NGP brings a low to the NE of the UK, with NW'lies as a result. |

As long as the heat stays away, I don't care if it's wet or dry, cloudy or sunny. ![]() -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham (change 'invalid83261' to 'blueyonder' to email me) |
