Default [WR] Cold & wet in Devon

After a brief scan of my old data it seems that today has been the coldest
June day I have ever recorded with a maximum of only 13.5C.

With continuously overcast skies, this is likely to have been the first
sunless day this month so far and 32 mm of rain has fallen in the last 24
hours. Now a wind has picked up gusting to over 35 mph adding to what has
been the most grottiest, mankiest and miserable June day I have ever known
(and I've known some bad 'uns!).

Currently at 18:25, 13.0C, RH 83%, DP 10.4C, 1001.9 mb (R), Wind 18.5 mph 30
sec mean.

Nick, where were you on 25-27 June 1997? Difficult to beat any
of those dates hereabouts, and as a threesome probably without
parallel.

Similar here, Nick. It's been grim, felt more like March really, or July for
those in mountain retreats ;-)

Tomorrow's looking better if still quite cool

Glastonbury of all places!! Muddily engrained in my mind forever.

But living in a stinky flat (all my student loan/grant would stretch to)in
north London so I don't have any records for those dates as I was
mud-swimming in the West Country.

Yep, not the best of days, but it could have been much worse!

In Haytor, last 24 hour rainfall was only 25.4 mm (monthly total now 177.3 mm,
187% of normal).
Day max. a chilly 12.3C and a force 5-6 sustained wind.
A single figure max. would have been more noteworthy and twice the rainfall.
We escaped most of the weather today, but I'm thinking of lighting a fire :-)

Right on the fringes of the rain in Penzance. Even some vaguely bright
bits allowed the temperature up (!?) to 15.6C at some point, but
13-14C most of the day.

The wind has been a feature, up to 42mph in Penzance, where it's
sheltered from the NW. Very rough sea on the north coast, quite
dramatic really. So rough the Padstow lifeboat can't get back to the
slip.

Sun's just come out. I see the weather hasn't put peolple off turning
up at the Minack. www.minack.com/min02_7ref30.htm.

My thermometre exposed to sunlight only managed 15.3c, one of the
coolest June days on record in this neck of the woods.
