Hi all,

A week's great skiing has been had, over 50cm fell over the first four days
of this week and the last two days were beautiful sunshine with Mt. Blanc
clearly visible over 40 miles away.

Today has been very interesting. The village of Tignes lies at 6900ft asl
with surrounding mountains reaching over 12000 feet asl. We awoke at 04Z
with temperatures around MS19 degC and crystal clear skies, stars shining
brightly. We descended to around 5500ft and we were greeted with diamond
dust and a temperature of MS12 degC. As we progressed towards Lyon airport
(LFLL) the temperature gradually decreased with us sinking beneath the OVC
cloud level around 3000ft at Bourg St Maurice (SYNOP 07497 2800ft asl).
Towards Lyon the warning signs grew ever prominent on the autoroute(A43) and
we experienced heavy driving snow from Chambéry to Lyon. After a delay of
two hours at LFLL, with the runway being snow ploughed and aeroplane being
de-iced, we took off.

After we landed I then realised what the UK had in store for us during the
following week !!

Joe

You are just back in time, Joe. Keep your skis waxed for Manchester.

Hi Colin,

All written in the heat of the moment, thanks for pointing out the error. I
am back in Manchester tomorrow, leaving Wymeswold at about 12Z. I doubt the
week's coming events will be a scratch on life at 2100m asl !

About three or four, it's all I spend my money on. I am a firm believer that
travel is the best form of education. I'm not working, still a student until
June 2006 when that status leaves me...!
