Weather is headline news on BBC1. Absolute chaos on the trains/roads. The river
Severn is rising expected to be 5metres above normal at Upton upon Severn, I fear that this one will run and run, and ... there really is more on the way! The news reporter also said The Met Office got it right, small consolation though I guess. The river Severn is rising expected to be 5metres above normal at Upton upon Severn snip The flood barriers are up - and needed - here in Bewdley now; the river is just starting to come over the banks. Already almost as high as it was for the last lot a few weeks ago; I wouldn't be surprised if it topped that and became the highest mid-summer level in living memory. -- Bewdley, Worcs. ~90m asl. |

: Hope you're ok, David, it doesn't look good.... Thanks for the thoughts, Rob. I'll be okay myself, being on top of a hill 60-70m above the river, and the flood barriers down in town should prevent homes being ruined in the way Hull and so on endured. The biggest risk at the moment is probably the torrents of water sluicing down the (steep) main road into town from overflowing drains, and more to the point a number of drivers who are driving as though this were just a light shower. -- Bewdley, Worcs. ~90m asl. |

Sky looks threatening I'm listening to BBC Hereford and Worcester radio, which has been broadcasting all night - available online, if anyone is interested: http://www.bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester/ It certainly is grim. I'll make a separate post in a minute with more local detail, but suffice it to say that I feel for those people - literally thousands of them - on the M5 and M50 motorways. -- Bewdley, Worcs. ~90m asl. |
