Can't really work out what to expect Monday onwards anymore. BBC seem to
have dropped the temps down to 2-3C but no more talk of the widespread snow, only possibly snow showers "giving a dusting" on the East coast. Fair enough, but the reasons for the changes aren't that clear from chart differences so is it just an individual interpretation? Countryfile should be worth a look - hope it's not Dan! Dave |

I think the difficulty at this range is in predicting just where troughs embedded in the flow will be. Have a look here for the UKMO "FAX" idea for T+24: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/brack0.gif Here for T+36, with a trough predicted to be crossing the SE: http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/brack0a.gif T+48 is brack1.gif, T+60 is 1a, T+72 is 2, T+84 is 2a. There are also T+108 and T+132, but by then you are getting rather a long way out to have much confidence in the detail. -- John Hall Johnson: "Well, we had a good talk." If you can get News24 check out Rob McElwee on the weather section of the
interactive multiscreens. His forecast this morning is far more interesting than anything Dan Corbett could muster! "Dave.C" wrote in message .uk... Dave Forecasts evolve as more information comes to hand, Dave. I rarely watch any TV weather these days but assuming it was a national broadcast it sounds like they're correctly following the guidance from HQ. Although I wouldn't agree with showers "giving a dusting" on the East coast if that's what was said. The main difficulty at the moment is gauging the extent of the inland penetration of showers as the flow veers more towards the east later today and tomorrow. I'd keep an eye on the TAFs. Jon. |

Jon, Are you suggesting that the TAFs give more reliable forecasts than the half-hourly updates on BBC News24? Surely not ;-) Norman.
