Default [WR] Norfolk Rain Showers

Coltishall have been reporting rain nearly all the time we've had snow
here. I was beginning to wonder what was happening. But we have just had
a moderate rain shower here now - although it has subsequently become
mixed with snow again.

This airstream isn't really cold enough to sustain snow to low levels
during the day. It needs to be a couple of degrees colder.

I think we forget that most wintry episodes in this country are a wet
gloopy mix of rain, sleet, hail and snow at sea level; we just best
remember those few times when it has been cold enough for the "wrong
kind of snow"; ie the dry fluffy stuff.

How close are you to the coast? If fairly close, then further inland it
may be mostly snow,

That's true enough.

Worth bearing in mind that the Coltishall obs (and many other RAF stations)
will normally be purely machine generated at the weekend...

4cm here, and more falling - but it's very wet stuff; there's lots of
dripping going on out there.

No cycling today methinks.

Chris, forgot to ask, when do you expect the Barncam to be back online ?

Cheers,
Jon.

I'll see if I can sort something out to make it easier to move the
camera around. Then I can do what I need with the camera in the evenings
when it's dark, and leave it in Barncam-mode during the day.

I've been meaning to sort this out anyway - I'll take a trip up to the
loft and see what cables I've got stowed away, that might help.

Watch this space...
