Default "Normal" temperatures feel very hot

Yesterday (Wed) seemed hot in the Southampton/New Forest area
yesterday (my guess was about 26C) yet the temperatures were
apparently only 20-22C, i.e. fairly normal, and slightly on the low
side of normal if anything. I suppose there have been so few days with
normal temperatures and sun this year that even that feels
exceptional... the perceived warmth is similar to that which you would
normally get in April on a sunny day with those temperatures.

Agree Nick, had 23.0C here yesterday, could of sworn it had been 25C.
If we do manage the high 20's on Sunday as some forcasts suggest, we
will all be complaining about the heat ;-)

I complain about the heat(*) every time I come down off this hill...

(*)The increased humidity as well as temperature make lower altitudes
really rather unpleasant.

I know what you mean, sitting on my balcony late this afternoon, felt like
23C, I thought humidity was moderate too, but max at Edgbaston only 20C
today.

Same here Dave.

Unfortunately I have to work in Exeter and it always seems so hot and sticky
there. Brilliant getting back home to Haytor often (not much this summer mind)
going from an unpleasant 23C to a more tolerable 19-20C. Same in winter too,
often horrible and mild in Exeter with 8-11C but much fresher at home at 5-8C.
When I lived in Crowthorne (Berkshire) summers were horribly sticky with the
temperature often 25-30C and there there was no escape except to try and lie
still next to an open window and hope for a breeze!
