Default July 2007 in Canterbury

A little bit later than usual - I'm up to my neck in completing my PhD
thesis which has to be submitted in exactly one month from now!

July 2007 in Canterbury was very wet - more than twice as wet (225%) as
usual for the area. Notable daily totals were 23.6mm on the 9th, 11.9mm
on the 15th, 20.1mm on the 23rd and 12.0mm on the 28th. The 9th was the
4th wettest day and the 23rd was the 7th wettest day since September
2004. The month as a whole was the 2nd wettest since September 2004 with
only August 2006 being wetter (110.5mm). July was the third month in a
row and the fourth month in 2007 with above-average rainfall. The 15th
was also notable for a very sharp torrential downpour with 10.9mm
falling between the hours of 20Z and 21Z at a maximum rate of
187.5mm/hr. There were no notable hot spells with the 15th and 16th
being the only days above 25C (27.4C and 25.1C). The minimum temperature
of 7.3C wasn't recorded until the 31st of the month.
