August was notable for the lack of any prolonged warm spell but ended up
being very slightly warmer than average. It was also slightly drier than
average. Only three days managed to exceed 25C - the 4th (26.0C), 5th
(30.1C) and 25th (27.1C). The 22nd was cool and had a very small diurnal
range - maximum of 16.7C and minimum of 16.1C. Some cool nights
contributed to a slightly below-average mean minimum. The start and end
of the months were dry with a wet spell from the 13th to the 23rd
producing nearly all of the month's rain.
