Dorset had a bit - annoying drizzle with a heavier burst whilst I was out with the dogs typically. I am surprised there was not a Severe Weather warning - think of the massive disruption as people used the wipers smearing bits of mozza all across their windscreens. R |

0.6 mm in Haytor Nick, RADZ got almost moderate for a while.
1.9 mm for the month. Topped up the patio tubs and keeping the grass nice and green and fresh. Will (Haytor, Devon, 1017 feet asl) -- "Nick Gardner" wrote in message ... Similar here, with 0.3 mm of rain: a mix of idr(slight) early afternoon 14th, then 'showery' rain for an hour either side of 18Z, which latter was responsible for the 0.3 mm - quite an intense-looking line of rainfall from the radarnet. The end of a spell of 23 days with absolutely no rain (24 days with only a trace). Martin. -- Martin Rowley West Moors, East Dorset (UK): 17m (56ft) amsl Lat: 50.82N Long: 01.88W NGR: SU 082 023 |

Surely it hasn't been broken, technically, since AIUI the definition is '15 or more consecutive days without rainfall of *more* than 0.2mm'? -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham (change 'invalid83261' to 'blueyonder' to email me) |

I bought a new rain gauge, hoping to measure all the rain we'd been having -
not a jot since I installed in on August 29th here in Sturry, near Canterbury! If anyne ever wants guaranteed sunshine - buy a rain gauge! Cheers, -Ben "Nick Gardner" wrote in message ... It was in fact a short burst of heavy rain and drizzle after looking at my AWS
data, 4.3 mm/h at 1800 local. Will -- "Will Hand" wrote in message ... 0.6 mm in Haytor Nick, RADZ got almost moderate for a while. 1.9 mm for the month. It's now 24 days without measurable rain here in Fareham, only a couple of traces (but 2mm on 22 August). I measure from midnight to midnight. The posts in this thread had me scurrying to re-check my Friday's record (trace) which I was able to do from the 15 minute radar images - Avbrief are currently retaining *48 hours* of images which can be accessed by changing the time and date in the url of any of the recent images. Thanks to them, I was able to confirm that the rain belt did indeed break up in the Southampton-Portsmouth area and the images are consistent with my record of "trace" for that day. -- Dave Fareham (West) |
