Not much in Belgium. Car parks along the Schelde quays in Antwerp
under water at high tide. Seaward end of Blankenberge pier has been
badly damaged by high waves and the pier is closed to the public.
Part of the wall of a house under construction in Merksem (Antwerp)
collapsed on to the neighbouring house and 10 people had to be
evacuated.

First snow of the winter in the Ardennes and the German-speaking
Eastern Cantons of Belgium - 10 cm lying snow there this morning as
also in the Hautes Fagnes above 600 metres.

Road between Malmedy and Eupen was closed after several lorries got
stuck trying to climb the hills.

Netherlands

No great problems anywhere. Dutch Insurers' Federation thinks claims
for storm damage will amount to only about EUR 500 000.

Some areas on the seaward side of the dykes on the Frisian islands
were flooded including the harbours of Vlieland and Terschelling.

A ship lost 45 empty containers off the coast of the island of
Ameland. Delays to flights at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport because of
strong winds - at one time only 40 instead of 60 planes an hour could
land and some flights were cancelled.
