"jim beam" sputnick wrote in ... Jim Given that Leeds have now won 15 out of 19 league matches I think they can pretty much win under any conditions! The FA must be really fuming over Leeds Utd's success this season. The points deduction was supposed to act as a ball and chain, possibly even leading to a further relegation. Instead Leeds have simply shrugged it off and might even be champions! -- Col Bolton, Lancashire 160m asl I shall be highly tickled if they are. The financial misdeeds and incompetence of the management, which have been outrageous, have been visited unfairly on the players, who have responded tremendously. I have no reason to favour Leeds, being a Chelsea fan for over 50 yrs, and at one time loathed them heartily, as many did, and the 1970 Cup Final, probably the dirtiest ever (Chelsea were hardly blameless) being a tremendous result for me. But that was then; this is now and Leeds have suffered enough. I hope they win promotion. FWIW I thought the 1992 team was pretty good, too. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |

PS Don't you want to share your name with us? -- Rob C. Overfield Hull Nope can stay like this. Tell me what rules Leeds United actually broke this season, anything that other teams haven't done in Administration. They didn't exit administration properly. Quote from the Yorkshire Post: "HMRC, which was owed £7.7m when Leeds went into administration on May 4, went to court only an hour before a 28-day deadline for creditors to challenge the controversial company voluntary arrangement (CVA) was due to pass. As a result, KPMG responded by putting the club up for sale in a move which effectively bypassed the existing CVA. Mr Bates won the ensuing auction and has since resumed control of the club which nevertheless suffered a 15-point penalty for exiting administration outside the normal CVA procedure." Do you deny any of that? If it wasn't for that cheating FA docking points we would be 12 points clear. The FA administer the rules, they gave the deduction according to those rules, which had not changed. Therefore Grandad Ken knew what they were and tried to play fast and loose with them. When did Hull City ever win anything worthy of the word? Whats that got to do with it? Reading haven't won anything worthy of the word and they are a biggger club at the moment. Next season will be consolidating in the Championship the year after will be a promotion to the Premier League where Hull City are never going to go. Good result for City at the weekend. We're not going to go to the Premiership? Who would want to? I would rather be debt-free first. I would like to apologise to everyone else on the group but this person, who chooses to remain anonymous, got up my rather ample nose! Its a local thing around here.... Anyway, I kept quiet when my boys, Scarborough, lost 10 points and eventually folded as a club! That's life and they deserved it. Even now their fans aren't that popular - just ask any Ipswich Town fan who visited towards the end of last season and effectively sent Leeds down and there was a 30 minute pitch invasion of angry yobs. Very sad. Richard |
