For fun, to summarise Christmas day as predicted from x days out:-
Days-16: HP west of Ireland, cold pool over France Days-15:LP west of Ireland, 128 dam over England, northerly winds Days -14; LP over N.Norway, northerlies, all of Uk under 528 dam Days - 13: LP over Iceland . Strong SW'lies Most of UK under 546 dam ! Day -12: Small LP just north of Scotland. Northerly winds. Whole UK under 528 dam. So almost 100 % change between some consecutive days, confirming of course what we know about GFS at this range. As Jon pointed out - got quite accurate from about 7 days out last year. I fear we may have to wait even longer this year ;-) Dave |
