Default Penzance 2007 - Warmest Year

2007 is my warmest year on record (since 1991)

Top 10

2007 - 12.6
2003 - 12.4
2006 - 12.3
2002 - 12.3
2004 - 12.2
2005 - 12.2
1995 - 12.1
1999 - 12.1
2001 - 12.0
1998 - 12.0

(Coldest Years 1996, 11.0 & 1991 - 11.1)

Bit of a warming trend I'd say.

Default Penzance 2007 - Warmest Year

Graham

2007 is my warmest year on record (since 1991)

My annual mean is 11.2C, which is exactly the same as 2006.

The annual mean min & max a

2007: 6.6C 15.9C
2006: 7.2C 15.1C

Despite a lousy summer, this year's mean max is much higher but a prevalence
of calm, starry nights throughout the year has lead to some very low
minimums when compared to the much warmer nights of 2006. Being in a valley
and about 6 miles from the warming influence of the sea does lower my
minimums somewhat under these conditions.

What is even more remarkable regarding this year's warmth is that it
occurred under strong La Nina conditions. I suspect that 2008 will be even
warmer, especially if La Nina weakens.

With only a few hours of 2007 left, my averages for Teignmouth will
most likely be:

Mean Avg +11.9c (1971-2000 avg +11.1c)
Mean Max +15.2c (1971-2000 avg +14.2c)
Mean Min +8.6c (1971-2000) avg +8.0c)

I'll post a full summary of 2007 on Wednesday, because I'll most
likely be too hungover to post on here tomorrow.

Have a great New Year everyone.

La Nina does seem to be weakening.

Compare 19th Dec http://lwf.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/climate...t.20071219.gif
with 12th December

I'm not aware of any documented link between the El Nino/La Nina
oscillation and annual mean temperature variation in the UK. Is there
one?
