275mm of rain and hail in 4 hours fell in the town of Rhodes on
January 1st according to an announcement of officials earlier today.

In the meantime, it snowed down to the coasts of Macedonia and Thrace
yesterday evening and today was an ice day for many up there. Down to
-13.4C at the ski resort of Seli and -12.1C in landlocked areas of
eastern Macedonia at the moment. Most of central and northern Greece
is reporting temperatures below zero right now, while the SW of Crete
is reporting the highest temperature, namely +12.2C at 3:05am. The
heat island and the position of Athens are offering temperatures
between 0C and 7C within the city at the moment.

Kato Nevrokopi, an area in the Drama prefecture in northern Greece
known for its winter frosts, made it to -20.7C this morning. This is
the lowest temperature measured this winter in the country so far.
