Checked the rainfall for 2007 on the rainguage and it recorded 1318mm,
which is somewhat over the 860mm or so annual mean for the area. Now I am not sure of the annual average for Ilkley, this is a guess based on figures for the surrounding reservoirs on the hillsides above Ilkley, in Wharfedale. The gauge is in my parent's garden (I don't have a garden in Leeds!), at a height of 120m asl. Chelker Reservoir's* mean precipitation is 880mm (223m asl), and March Ghyll Reservoir# 891mm (198m asl). However these are 1941-1970 annual means so things might have changed. Bearing in the mind the droughts of 2007, this makes for a pretty remarkable year - it would be interesting to know of any similar anomolies in the east Pennines.
