Default WR - HUGE hail storm with TS North N Yorks

Half way between Northallerton & Darlington at 20:45

Just had a good covering of hail howl against the windows for some 5
minutes leaving the ground white.

A few minutes afterwards there were a few flashes of lightning and
claps of thunder.

Sorry to follow up but as we were driving the 8 miles out there from
home at about 20:00 the car thermometer was reading 9C ! When we've
driven home again at 21:30 it was reading 3C !

Thankfully the Met Office readings for Leeming agree !

Quite a quick drop that...

Leeds dropped 7 degrees in 30mins as the front went through. The rain
turning to snow in the process, much to my dismay.

IIRC, Wittering gusted to 60KT on the front late yesterday evening.
Tomorrow's cold front may also have similar line convection characteristics

Why to your dismay Jon???

Snow wasn't exactly in the plan. They also had hail like many other places.

Has been snowing again recently..

Hi, Jon,
Yesterday's Met O forecast (on the web site) for Bishop Auckland -
nearest to me - was going for heavy snow shower at 21Z for most of the
day. I thought there must be some error, especially at 1930Z when it
was 8C, but then it happened!
Copley obs very similar to EGNM.
