The worst sort of winter weather. Continuous drizzle. Exceptionally mild for time of day at 11.0C. F4 WSW. Occasional fog. It's not just me either, the locals are fed up with mild southwesterly weather, everybody I have spoken to wants cold and snow! The local pub gets visitors from overseas and while they know that Devon is a mild place they see photos of Dartmoor ponies walking through snow and ask, where is it? Well this time last week it was sleeting and last saturday morning I did see a pony walking through patchy snow, so I'll hold that thought through the day! :-( PS this will be the last report till Sunday as the weather won't change here much. It might get a tad warmer and the drizzle might get heavier. Perhaps on Sunday the sun will come out and we will hit 15C! The worst sort of winter weather.
Oh come off it Will, it could always be a lot worse, I think. Did get a brief bit of brightness here, not enough to add anything to the sunshine recorder but definitely a few seconds of sun. Now, despite the fact the sunshine recorder did not register our brief moment of dazzling glory, do I enter 'Trace' or leave it as 0.00 hours..... Now back to grey skies, a bit o' drizzle here and there but at least we had warm gravel for breakfast. Currently (09:45), 12.4C, RH 85%, DP 9.0C, 1010.2 hPa (S), Wind 7 mph SW. Sunshine: Trace. ________________ Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

Thunder would be better. -10C would be better. Snow would obviously be better. A temperature below 10C would be better. Sun would be better. Gales would be better Nope, worse sort of winter weather for me. Boring, damp, very mild. Will -- |

I don't think so.
But surely it could even damper, drizzlier, darker, gloomier, more depressing, more miserable and November. At least Spring isn't too far away now, the days are getting noticeably longer as well. Temperature now 13.8C. ________________ Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

In November I look forward to winter, and as I have said before February is my favourite winter month, followed by March, so yes, the best bit of winter is yet to come. Will -- |

You do have a point with lengthening days. In November I look forward to winter, and as I have said before February is my favourite winter month, followed by March, so yes, the best bit of winter is yet to come. I'm afraid I don't look forward to Winter anymore Will, a few years ago I did but not now it's just the same old crap year after year, you know what's coming. I really don't understand Piers, all he has to do in November is forecast the following 3 months to be mild or very mild and he's on a sure winner every time! Will I remember 1989/90 when we had an average December followed by a very mild January they were in turn followed by my warmest February on record (until 1998) and second warmest March, so don't expect too much!
