+14.9C maximum so far today in Stogursey. Mild, dull, damp with the
odd break in cloud.

Not very seasonal here in Cheshire, either. Max of 13.7 (VP2) today
and still 13.5 as I write, much warmer than this morning despite (or
perhaps because of?) a westerly wind (humidity dropped sharply as the
temperature rose - is this a Foehn effect?).

Still only one air frost this month, and that a mere -0.7 on the 3rd.
Rainfall already past the 30-year average [1], the fields round here
are saturated so we can expect some floods this weekend.

Flies buzzing around, too - it's Winter, Jim, but not as we know it.

The bees were having their fill of the pansies down here!

Must admit, I was just thinking of starting a thread with the subject line
"HELLO, IT'S JANUARY!!!"

Thin cloud (can just see the moon through it) covering almost 10/10 and
keeping the temperature up.
Car thermometer (sorry it's the best I can do at present) was reading 14.5C
at 20:50.
It can't be that different for you Keith just over the Thames from me.

It's not just us who are experiencing unseasonal warmth - this chart says it
all, I feel:

Needless to say, the other side of the Atlantic it's another story
entirely...

Yeah, I know!!

Even in pre-global warmimng days it must have been highly
unusual for it to be colder than average over such a vast area.
