Gust 239° 44 kn recorded here at 1740. Quite a bit higher than
neighbouring gusts, so may have been on the edge of a shower. Our annual average highest gust is only 45 kn, so this is a about a once- per-year gust, and in fact the highest gust here for almost a year (48 kn on 6 March 2007). Hourly mean quite low for a big gust, though - 'only' 15 kn for the hour ended 1800. Instrumentation: Vector instruments anemometer mounted at 11 m AGL, logged to Campbell Scientific CR10X. Logged every second; gust is highest 3 sec mean per standard practice. -- Stephen Burt Stratfield Mortimer, Berkshire |
