I see from todays Torygraph weather page ,that Southeast Englands temps
would be between 9 and 12C,and it would feel rather mild ,well, excuse me , it FEELS bloody cold ! Why and where did this feely touchy nonsense creep into what should be perfectly straight forward forecasts, saying how it is and not what some abitary thinktanker decides for us. Oh bring Bert Foord I say...now you can all bugger off. Who said I'm feeling tetchy ? RonB |

I would say to a forecaster "You tell me the temperature; *I'll* tell you how it feels." At times they could add some qualification about humidity, say, or windiness. Even sunshine. But not windchill. A temperature of 5°C and a 20 mph does not feel the same as -5°C and a calm, even if the rate of loss of heat from a Standard Sheep, by some conventional formula, is the same. The feel is quite different. Just give us the figures and treat us as adults. Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |

Stamping through the snow, at "Philip Eden" philipATweatherHYPHENukDOTcom
proclaimed loudly and it became the following telegram... "John Hall" wrote : But then he would miss Philip Eden's always excellent piece on that same Torygraph weather page every Saturday. -- [Philip slips John a fiver] Philip, if you were to tip everyone a fiver who appreciated your Saturday column, you'd be broke.... ![]() Sometimes its the only reason I get that paper on a weekend. Much better than Kettley in the MoS, although he's not too bad. -- Rob C. Overfield Hull |
