Default {WR} Haytor 27/01/08 (Wolkensee, frost and sun)

0900

Extensive mist/fog over Teign valley into Newton Abbot and Teignmouth. Hills
above Teignmouth poking out like islands above a white lumpy cloud. Smoke from
clay pits near Kingsteignton merging with cloud. A "wolkensee" morning in Haytor
with no wind, extensive hoar frost and a slippery lane. Min -0.2C.

Sunny with a lot of COTRA and some very high cirrus circa 35000 feet. Temp now
soaring and is up to 4.1C already. Promises to be a super walking day on
Dartmoor (Nick!). Nice to wake up to a white landscape for a change too :-)

Will.

Blimey!
Wouldn't have thought there would often be a 9c difference in winter mins
between Devon and here.
Overnight min (since 0000) 8.1c.

Wonderfully calm up here 1000 feet up in Devon. Warm and sunny too (all frost
gone now)! Just come inside from sunning myself on the terrace enjoying the
views trying to convince myself it was only January.

Temperature at 1300 is a massive 10.4C (3.7C above normal). No doubt it will
drop like a stone again after sunset.
Frost stayed in shade until about 1100 hours. Wolkensee has now gone. RH is 70%
which is very nice after all the damp crud we have had in the past few weeks.

Still, come Friday I may have a snow cover, with a bit of luck :-)

It was certainly lovely for my Sunday morning stroll.

Cloudless & still. No land or sea breeze, with the SST & air temp both
being 10-11C at noon.

It really is a different world down there.
11C and cloudless simply can't happen in Bolton in January!

Col, it's pretty special ATM.

11.7C and virtually cloudless deep blue skies on Dartmoor.
This is like early ***May*** weather FHS (5 degrees above normal now).

Absolutely glorious, I'm running around doing all sorts of jobs while it lasts,
then come inside to cool off LOL.

Day max. 11.7C (5 degrees above normal and more like early May).
Very little wind and mainly sunny, COTRA disappeared by afternoon. Haze layer
persisting below 200m asl.

Now temperature is falling like a stone and is already down to +4.1C .

All car parks at Haytor were full this afternoon with folk parking on the road.
More like a snowy, sledging day or a fine day in summer. Took a stroll up onto
Hay Tor rock this afternoon to enjoy the views in the unusually still and clear
air.

Gorgeous day!

Will you are a glutton for punishment why have all that slush and muck
again when you can enjoy days like today?

More of the same I say
