Good evening everyone,
I just thought I should report the snowfalls in Athens today: http://nifada.com/webcam/panorama.htm (it's snowing right now but it should only last a few hours, I guess). Yannis@NL |

Yannis@NL And a picture of the city this morning from the North by Ilias Kotsifis: http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...s/IMG_0846.jpg Not more than 15 cm in the northern suburbs of Athens (drifting to 25cm) -less in other parts of the city- and not over a metre of new snow in the surrounding mountains, I am told. Have a nice day, everyone. Yannis. |

Sorry for disturbing yet again. In Crete, the main problem is snow
above ca. 400m amsl and the winds causing problems in the harbours. Most of the Aegean isles are currently cut off from the mainland due to the F9-10 winds (even Thessaloniki itself reported wind gusts up to 115 kph yesterday). Pictures from the venetian harbour of Chania in Crete by Leandros Symeonidis: http://creteweather.blogspot.com/ Yannis. |

Thanks, cupra. And a satellite animation showing how the very dry air coming from eastern Europe is enriched in water vapour over the Aegean and, after some kilometres, condensation finally occurs: http://www.sat24.com/frame.php?html=view&country=gr Still snowing in Northern Athens, as I can see: http://nifada.com/webcam/panorama.htm All the best, everyone. Sorry for taking advantage of everyone's permissiveness, but I keep
receiving nice photos. Yet again from Chani/Crete, this time by Kosmas Kimionis: http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/6118/waves002yn5.jpg http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/927/waves013ln7.jpg http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/6261/waves012ac2.jpg Atb, Yannis. |
