What a lovely day! Very little wind, snow showers and temperatures
below freezing all day. Started of with 2cm of dry snow on a hard frozen ground after further overnight snow showers. Temp -1.6 and dp -9.8 at 06z. Air temp remained -1 to -2 all day, but dp rose from mid-morning to late afternoon as a sequence of large slow-moving CBs travelled west across Fair Isle. Vis to 300m and sky obscurred on several occasions as moderate snow showers brought the snow depth up to 6cm of powder snow! My CODET laptop has failed, so I'm having to e-mail obs through. Though I regularly use the MO slide-rule to work out the RH from the dewpoint of the ob sent by CODET, I cannot remember the last time I had to use it to calculate a 'dewpoint' from an ice-bulb!
