Good afternoon, everyone.
Interesting cloud formations taking place over the northern Aegean today as the northerlies meet the northeasterlies the http://www.sat24.com/frame.php?html=...try=gr&sat=vis These maeanders, the name of which in English I forget, and waterspouts over different areas in the Aegean and Crete have been particularly frequent this winter in what has otherwise been a dull winter -with the exception of December -the coming period of time with the high over western Europe should allow for some action in the Balkans again. Particularly mild in The Netherlands during the last week or so, after the short lived snowfalls of last Friday night. Temperatures should even exceed 10C in many areas (actually, now that I'm thinking, this was the case late in the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, a couple of days ago, when post-merinoctem temperature readings were just above 10C. All the best, Yannis. |

You're write, I should have known better. This link might help: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/daten...jpg?1202374980 (09:03 GMT), one should look for the cloud formations right to the north of Lemnos and the SE of Thasos (islands in the far north of the Aegean). I guess this link will remain stable, as it contains the time of the satellite picture. These counterclockwise swirling formations would move southwestwards and new ones would form at the same place. Possibly a lee effect of the very high mountain on one of the islands? Yannis. |
