Is still on the cards looking at the latest runs. Frustrating really, all
this recent anticyclonic weather would have been much more welcome in Spring. Ah well March is very much a winter month for me so I'm not too bothered as long as it starts to warm up to early teen maxes in April! Highest temperature so far this year still +11.8C Will (Haytor, Devon, 1017 feet asl) -- |

This weekend is looking like it will be relatively spring-like (at least in the South East) |

Unless its going to be a repeat of 2003 March that year was unsettled till
the 12th then it really fired off. Best late Winter/Spring/Summer for years. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/climate/uk/2003/index.html "Will Hand" wrote in message ... Another March 2003 would do for me, then again last year's March was pretty
good as well. The thought of a cold and wet spring - yuk! I still haven't got over last summer. That's going to take a few good heatwaves to erase. ________________ Nick G Otter Valley, Devon 83 m amsl http://www.ottervalley.co.uk |

CEP Brookes writing in his 'The English Climate' (1954) quotes statistical evidence that the frequency of cyclonic storms at the start of March was so great that the odds of it being due to chance were more than 2000 to 1 against. In the updated edition of the same book by HH Lamb (1964) he says that the period 1-9 March has a notable peak frequency of 'northerly types' with the years highest peak frequency of snow in Edinburgh and the years 2nd highest peak in London. I'm still expecting some sort of northerly at the end of the month and then a wet and cold spell with wind, rain, sleet and snow as we go into March and the start of Spring. People will have to be patient if they want warm and sunny Spring weather! Will -- |
