Your right the radar is not very efficient. It has been raining/drizzling on
and off all day here in Scarborough, it has been quite heavy at times and
nothing has shown on the radar.

I would imagine part of the problem could be that of the radar beam and the
dry air above the inversion at about 1.5km. Here is the Nottingham ascent
for noon:
