Default Short cold spell then dry then wet

A short cold spell with some snow Mon-Wed and then a short dry spell for
circa 2 days with frosty nights in the south and then wet and rather cold
right with rain and hill snow through to mid-month at least is my reading of
the current situation, mainly based on ECMWF and gut feel.
