Unless it is near a station/buoy some degree of interpolation will be
needed, but I'd go for about 946mb.

Bloody hell, it's 949 on the http://meteonet.nl/aktueel/brackall.htm
site at the moment and the only interesting thing besides the fact it
is similar to the one a few days ago is that it is 5 and more degrees
further south than the usual route they take.

It's about time the Blue Peterettes had something useful to put on
their expensive naff maps.

So it will be a very close call for the lowest pressure since 1876
according to another newsgroup member! Wandered outside to check the
tarpaulin secured on the log pile and could hear the trees on the
hills around me down here in Dorset beginning to roar impressively.
It will be very interesting to see whether my anenometer at work 1
mile away exceeds the 53mph which is my maximum recorded over the last
three years. That is a good 8 metres up a pole and pretty exposed.
As if to signal the event the alarm here at home has just gone off so
I have reached a modest 20 mph!

Off to hunt a buoy then!
