Default Winter or Spring

The media are calling the depression that has just passed over England
and Wales as a winter storm. Yet meteorology speaking it's the spring.
So we get a winter storm with spring tides !

Joe

When I was a kid my mum would always say as she backed me off to
school at this time of year

"March in like a lion, out like a lamb"

However it is good to know that the Cabinet met yesterday to help save
us all from such a national disaster.

Hmmm.... how many deaths as a result of the storm? Well perhaps the same
cabinet could meet and discuss the death rates in the NHS as a result
of 'super bugs' which I believe runs at a far far higher level than
any weather event, even though that apparently is caused my AGW.
Furthermore the Met Office should be ashamed of its now political role
in the tide of human affairs.

Oh by the way: spring.

Apologies if that's a joke, but: Spring tides are not related to the season
of the same name.

Well it's normally spring by now but this is one of the most
disorientating years in a long time, with unusually warm and sunny
weather in February then the most "wintry" (no snow down here in the
south, but gales, changeability and a lack of warm air) March for a
good number of years. Add to that the combination of the unusually
early Easter and relatively late start of British Summer time, and you
can see why it's confusing....

Roll on April :-)

Nick
