Default Gut feel forecast for April

Here we go, another "gut feel" forecast.

A very cold Easter is now pretty certain with snow in places. But, once the
longwave pattern translates away east at the end of the month that could
well be the end of this present unsettled spell and as we move into April
some warm, dry and sunny weather is on the cards. Just watch Spring go! But,
.... as has been the pattern recently another long wave retrogression could
occur turning it colder and wet again towards the end of the month as we go
into May.

Cheers,

Piers Will

Well the wild and wacky end of the GFS certainly bears that out,
if only Easter could be one week later!

Nah, I'll blame the weather of course!

One thing I can predict with confidence is the media calling for a
fixed date to Easter if it is indeed a cold easter, given this is the
earliest Easter within living memory (never before do I remember it
being as early as the second-to-last Sunday in March). Irrational of
course, the latest Easter of my lifetime (2000) was probably worse
than this Easter is likely to be, very wet but without the
compensation of snow.

Any snow likely in South Wales over Easter, as I may be visiting. Or
will I need to head up to Brecon?

Thanks.

Certainly possible Simon.
Obviously higher ground is more likely.
A lot depends on wind direction though and that detail is too far away yet.

At least I'm lambing inside; and that is where they can stay till the
snow goes. I feel sorry for those lambing outside.
