uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged. |

I've been searching for quite a while for a desktop display
(wallpaper) that emulates those geochron clock displays you occasionally see in boardrooms and elsewhere. I have now found Desktop Earth and it is far better than most other Earth image desktops I've tried, and completely free of cost (and spyware). The day/night image can be updated every three minutes, but the Earth's surface image update is only monthly and the cloud images can be 3 hours out of date. However, the display is stunning, especially the night images. The images look especially impressive on the dual wide-screen monitor set-up I have at work. Download it at: http://www.download.com/Desktop-Eart...-10513308.html I have no connection with the software and as download.com is a well- known and trusted site, there will be no problems with viruses and other annoyances.
