Average April temps at Danmarkshavn Greenland
Can't find anything on the net - anybody know the mean and record
temperature in April at Danmarkshavn? I see this morning at 0900 they are recording ms34 after a 'night' min of ms37 degs. I don't recall seeing this station very often as low in January let alone April. Must be close to a record April low? |

Average April temps at Danmarkshavn Greenland
I have monthly 1% minimum temperatures for worldwide synoptic stations (courtesy of the Met Office). Danmarkshavn (WMO 04320) gives Mar -38.0, Apr -34.5, May -22.5, and the Danish mean min for April is -22.5. Assuming normality, this gives 1 in 403 April minima below -37.0, or one night every 13.4 years. So quite rare, but not impossible. For comparison, 1% April min at Gatwick is -4.0, Benson -6.5 and Cairngorm -10.3. Keith Grant (Bracknell) |
