It started with light hail and rain at 1800hrs and has continued to
hail steadily ever since, only easing a few minutes ago at 1930hrs. So far the rain gauge has 9.8mm and still rising as the hail melts. Possibley just a local event, but the longest hail shower I can remember. The hail itself was never very large but gradually settled on all surfaces. I fear its going to be very soggy out there once its all melted. Its several inches thick in places. Temp fell from 4c to 0.7c during the event with winds switching from the SW to the SE. Had a report of thundersnow in Penrith this afternoon aswell !! Paul C Brampton, NE Cumbria www.bramptonweather.co.uk |
