I'm beginning to wonder about Glen Ogle. Its maxima recently seem often
to have been some 2 degrees colder than anywhere else. The Wikipedia
article on Glen Ogle doesn't suggest that it's at a particularly high
altitude, so I wonder if there could be some problem with the
temperature sensor.

I take that back. Searching on the Met Office site, I've found that the
weather station is at an elevation of 564 m above mean sea level, in
other words some 1500ft. I imagine it's well up the side of the glen
rather than at the foot.

I think I decided some time ago that Glen Ogle was not quite high enough to
qualify as an unrepresentative "mountain site" like Bealach Na Ba or
Cairngorm, for example, but that is open to discussion of course.

The OS map shows a spot height on the road of 288 metres although the
highest point seems to be slightly above 300 metres. This was discussed
some time ago and it was suggested that the weather station was probably
at the site of the aerial on the hillside east of the glen at about 585
metres. When my leg's out of plaster we'll go and have a look. It
disappeared from xcweather some weeks ago after there was a suggestion
that the recorded wind speeds were too high.
