Default Outlook for May

To T240, 17th May, the month looks peachy for most. The CET, by then
should be well above average and probably above the 90th percentile.
The first half of May looks it will be very warm.

Just a hint creeping into the gfs over the last few runs of the
development of a European high beyond 10 days hence. That could
introduce more of a South-Westerly element to the weather in the UK,
with our high pressure sinking SE, but nothing looks cool in our neck
of the woods to the edge of gfs reality. Pressure in Berne looks like
it could be on the rise (cue stalker)

Default Outlook for May

I'm forever hopeful of a 5 month summer. Somebody told me once that 1959 was
a good example where the weather was warm and sunny from May through to
September. I haven't been able to verify that this was true; anybody
remember that one?

Anyway, it's a lovely thought and maybe this could be the year!

Glorious today, and lighter winds compared to yesterday when it was quite
breezy, just a slight sea breeze setting in now.

(At 10:55), 22.1C, RH 55%, DP 12.2C, 1017.8 hPa (S), Wind 7 mph SE.

Unfortunatley, I can remember it well. The school cricket seemed to be days
of hot sun which continued all through the summer hols. Barry Island every
day.

I was 7 in Manchester and my mum told me I was brown all summer, so what's
new? :-)
I remember the parks turning brown and the bowling greens being watered.

I bloody hope not!

Until 20 years ago or so, you could at least hope for the occasional
cold winter in compensation, but even that doesn't happen any more.

Very well, though I was only ten years old. The CET and EWR figures back
up my memory:

CET: May 12.8, June 15.2, July 17.3, August 17.2, September 14.9
EWR: May 28.3, June 45.8, July 66.4, August 34.4, September 8.4
