Damn Them, They cant get it right even within a 24 hour period. Wrong today
for London and the South East
said:
Today
Early cloud will disperse to allow sunny spells and it will become very warm
again. A few isolated heavy afternoon showers may develop in the west.
Actual ends up as:
Dull and cloudy, cloud not dispersing, not warm [15.7C at 12.30pm] plus the
wonderful idea of the the so called 'isolated shower' forecast in the
afternoon possibly being the only saving grace of the expected picture
today.
Then this evening
Tonight:
Soon becoming generally cloudy, with outbreaks of rain spreading from the
south across the region, some of it heavy and thundery.
Eh? Soon becoming generally cloudy but its been cloudy all day! they don't
know their A from their elbow.
bloody joke

Only "cloudy all day" if your day ends at lunchtime. By the time
you read this the sun will have been out for at least an hour and a
half and the temperature won't be far off 20°C. The only error in the
forecast was in not predicting the development of convective cloud to
the east of London in the morning and its subsequent westward
movement. But it has now gone. Far from being a "totally wrong"
forecast I'd say it was so far "mostly right".

Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey.

Not at all bad for Blackheath, though. Cloudy in the morning and quite
cool and windy, sharp shower at midday, then clearing to blue skies and
warm sunshine by early afternoon.

But I've noticed quite a difference between east and west London in the
last couple of days or so. Must be tricky to forecast at such a
microlevel.

Not wrong for all of the south-east. That's pretty much what we've had
in my part of Surrey, except that there were no showers. It's always
hard when this sort of grunge spreads inland from the North Sea to
forecast just how soon, and how far eastwards, the cloud will be burn
off by the sun.

I imagine that the murk will spread back in. Later in the night, I
understand that outbreaks of heavy rain are expected. (I hope I haven't
given the impression that I'm more expert than I am. I am not a
professional forecaster, just someone who has been interested in the
weather for a very long time and who has acquired some knowledge along
the way.)

Ok I will only give way on you a little bit so the sun came out somewhat
briefly and yes the convection I saw. We had isolated light shower.
It was mostly cloudy ALL day you're not havin that on me. Some brief sun now
an again.

Far from being a "totally wrong" forecast I'd say it was so far "mostly
right".
Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey.

Certainly was no were near Mostly right I dont agree whatsover, it was
supposed to be much more sunny and the temperature was expected at 22C in
London. It didnt reach that - if 20C for that matter. Your're in Surrey
anyway - I'm not disagreeing it could have been brilliant by sounds of it
for you but it wasnt here. I couldnt sit in the garden it was too cold. An
know why because there was very little sun to warm things up.
Yesterday I could because the sun WAS actually shining most of the day.
