This chart shows what is happening quite well:http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/i...timeseries.png I am now regretting not taking William Connolley's bet and proving him wrong!http://scienceblogs.com/stoat/2008/0..._kerfuffle.php Whatever the cause the ocean currents are most likely the blame not the warmth of the atmosphere above them. And it is the cause of the changes to the currents that should be examined rather than the chemical output of the USA and Western Europe. But blaming chemical output is a lot easier than examining the world's most difficult and inaccessible region. However once in train I can imagine a degree of difficulty not yet explored in the restitution of the way things were. Perhaps if the Atlantic flows are restored to the order they once had when Spain was verdant.... But even then it could take years. Should take years. But in actual fact, if it were not for the fact that lower latitudes are suffering I would ask{ What is wrong with the scenario? |
